SXSW Live: Straight from the Facebook party
After the hollow amazement of the fire-dancing Frog party, Facebook had some splanin to do.
What I can say was excellent both here and at Frog were the motion graphics displays. They put my gogoinflight.com attempt to shame.
At the Facebook party tonight, my ideas about separating the elements of Web pages in space and time to achieve sub-textual depth were blazing at me on a series of HD screens.
There was also easy access to a big bar (which was a cash bar) — compared to the space. Moody and tiki-like, Pangea seemed like a cool lounge to hang at when there isn’t 2,000 people crammed in.
Walking up the steps and past a mini-studio in the middle of an video interview was a cool way to enter. If the band had started, I would have stayed longer (read: There was a cash bar. I probably would have stayed one beer longer).
So I guess this corporate party thing is taking it one step at a time. It’s just too bad that they’re competing against countless Austin bars and bands, most all of which are really pretty tight.
